The file SHARC.IHX contains the data for the EPROM(*) in the EZANC-II. WARNING: Program only a new EPROM. Keep the old EPROM as a fall-back until you have verified that the equipment works correctly with the new EPROM installed. WARNING: The following procedure must be performed by a qualified technician at a suitable workstation where the EZANC-II will be protected from damage by static discharge. PROCEDURE: 1) Disconnect power and RS232 and all signal leads from the equipment. 2) Open the enclosure. For this you need a hex driver (allen key). Loosen the hex screws at the case top rear left and right corners (the screw head is hidden within the plasic feet on the case top rear corners). The screws must be loosed but do not need to be removed. They are captive within the plastic foot. 3) Remove the lid by lifting up at the rear of the case and sliding away from the case front. Place the lid on the desk next to the EZANC-II. 4) Once the lid is removed the circuitboard containing the DSPs is clearly visible. Identify the EPROM marked with ADSP21062 (SHARC) on the top circuit-board. 5) Use a pair of wire cutters to cut the plastic cable-tie which holds the EPROM in its socket. 6) Note the orientation of the EPROM by locating the notch in one end of the EPROM. You must ensure that the new EPROM has the correct orientation. Remove the EPROM from its socket. Replace it with the supplied EPROM. 7) Use the supplied cable tie to hold the EPROM in its socket. This is necessary to prevent the EPROM self-ejecting during transport or storage. 8) Replace the lid and tighten the hex screws at the top rear left and right corners of the lid. The equipment is now ready for use. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (*) The EZANC-II contains two EPROMs: one each for two separate processors. Only the EPROM marked 'SHARC' needs to be replaced with a new part containing the image found in SHARC.IHX.
